This painting shows how the seashore along the southern coast of Sanibel Island looked the day before a hurricane hit. The winds were too strong to paint en plein air, so I painted from a photo on a frameless canvas in my studio using oils. I enjoyed using loose brush strokes and contrasting colors to capture the dramatic scene.
Thankfully this hurricane left minor damage as it skirted up along the western coast of Florida. #bethbasistapaintings.com, #stormy beach, stormy #sky painting, #impressionism, #americanimpressionistsociety, #pleinairpainting, #fineartist, #mvartists.org/bethbasista/
